Tours and Programs
Tours Tours are available Tuesday through Friday, beginning at 10:00 am with the last available tour beginning at 2:30 each day. Tours may also be scheduled for Saturday beginning at 12:00 pm with the last available tour beginning at 3:30. For tours on Sundays, Mondays, or outside of regularly scheduled business hours please contact the Center regarding availability of tour staff. We offer two standard programs, the popular Native Cycles, Sacred Circles curriculum, and the newer Understanding Michigan Indian Treaties and Soverignty curriculum. Both programs run for 90 minutes unless otherwise requested. The fee for programs taking place at the Nokomis Learning Center is $3.00 per student and $3.00 per adult chaperone. One teacher for each class is complementary. Groups of 15 or fewer will be charged a flat rate of $45.00 for tours in place of the $3.00 per participant charge in order to cover Nokomis building and teaching costs for the session. These tour programs are also available to travel to your classroom, library, or meeting place. Cost per student is the same. Mileage to and from the site is paid by your group and is assessed at the federal mileage reimbursement rate. Scheduling in advance is required for curriculum programs so call the Center at 517.349.5777 to reserve your day and time. If your group is planning a tour for the month of October or November, plan to schedule at least 3 weeks in advance of your desired date as slots fill up quickly during these fall months. Other Programs Nokomis Learning Center also offers a number of other programs throught our Speaker's Bureau which can be offered both at the Center and off-site at your meeting place. We have crafters, dancers, drummers, and speakers available to present on a number of topics. See our Speaker's Bureau information for more about programming possibilities. |
